Encrypt ZIP Online

Bundle files into an AES-256 password-protected ZIP in your browser.

Create an encrypted ZIP
Drop files here or choose files
Up to 500 MB. Folder paths are preserved.
Use 12-99 characters, or generate a 36-character password.
Add one or more files to continue.
Opens with Keka on Mac or 7-Zip on Windows.
How to create the ZIP

Choose files or one folder, enter and confirm a password, then select "Encrypt and download ZIP." The archive is created in your browser and the original files are not changed.

Open the ZIP on Mac or Windows

On a Mac, open the ZIP with Keka. On Windows, use 7-Zip. Finder's Archive Utility and Windows File Explorer are not listed because built-in ZIP support does not reliably cover this AES format.

What the password protects

AES-256 protects each file's contents. Standard ZIP filenames and basic metadata remain visible, so use neutral filenames when that information is sensitive. Use a long, unique password and send it separately from the ZIP.

Choose the right file tool

Use Encrypt ZIP for multiple files or when the recipient needs a standard archive. Use Encrypt File for one file when both sides can use the matching Decrypt File tool. Use Encrypt PDF when the result should remain a PDF.

For short text, use Encrypt Text Online instead.

FAQ
What app can open the encrypted ZIP?

On a Mac, use Keka. On Windows, use 7-Zip. Both support the AES-encrypted ZIP format created here.

Are filenames encrypted?

No. AES-256 protects file contents, while standard ZIP filenames and basic metadata remain visible.

Does this tool upload my files?

The selected files are read by page code to create the ZIP in your browser. See the Privacy and Security pages for site-level data handling and tool limitations.
